Wisdom Teeth Removal
Impacted wisdom teeth can cause pain, inflammation and infection by trapping food or plaque under loose gum tissue around the tooth.
Wisdom teeth are the third set of molar teeth which typically erupt in the late teens and early twenties. Impacted wisdom teeth are those that are obstructed from erupting into the mouth due to a lack of space or through developing at an unfavourable angle.
Impacted wisdom teeth can also result in decay due to difficulty cleaning, and may also put the adjacent teeth at risk of decay. If you are having any concerns with your wisdom teeth, please contact us for an appointment. An x-ray will usually be arranged to assess the position of the teeth and to detect any associated pathology.
For removal of impacted wisdom teeth, and for extractions under general anaesthesia, we can arrange referral to a specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
